Specialties: Developing green horses and reconditioning riders and horses.
Background: Janice grew up on Long Island, NY, and got the “horsy bug” at the age of four. She started her competition career at the age of six in Hunter Jumpers. She spent 20 years competing in the dressage arena and Eventing on both the Long Island and New England circuits. Janice spent much of the summers of her youth at Andover Equestrian Center in Andover, New Hampshire. As a member of their combined training program she learned stable management, wound care, illness and lameness identification and of course, competing. At the young age of 14, she earned 68 Olympic qualifying points. Her training ranged from clinic’s with Denny Emerson to taking a turn at Steeple Chase to “appreciate the solitude of cross-country.”

While on Long Island, Janice trained and competed on both the Eventing and Hunter Jumpers, even spending a brief stint as a breeze-girl for Belmont raceway. Over the years, she also developed numerous profitable young and sale prospect sport horses to a variety of competition levels.
Ms. Anderson spent six years in Las Vegas honing her dressage techniques, schooling and competing young and/or problem European imported Warmblood sport horses under the tutelage of Grand Prix Dressage rider/instructor, Gail Alterwitiz, of Amazing Grace Stables. Throughout her tenure in Las Vegas, Janice studied with several current and former Olympic instructors.
Since coming to East Texas in the summer of 2003, Janice has developed a loyal student base along with long-term commitments for horses in training. She has coached a number of riders returning to the sports, reconditioned in-active horses, and helped young riders build their skill and confidence. A few of her clients past and present include Mt. Pleasant Friesians, Panola County Mounted Patrol, Canton Equine Outlet, Team Kinzbach, Foxcrest Farms and New Horizons Ranch.
Janice believes that not matter what the discipline, riding should be fun for both rider and horse. She also believes that the classical principles of dressage are extremely valuable to beginners and children to give them a solid foundation for wherever they plan to take their horsemanship. Ms. Anderson brings over 25 years of experience in horsemanship to the East Texas Area.

“Above all, riding should be fun. When it’s not, it’s time to take up bowling.”
